About this role

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation, remand prisons, and client transport. Read more about the operations at Hinseberg Prison on our website: https://www.kriminalvarden.se/kontakt/hitta-och-kontakta/verksamhet/anstalt/hinseberg/#verksamhet The Hinseberg area is located on the outskirts of Frövi, about 30 kilometers northeast of Örebro, and consists of a prison and a remand facility. Public transport can be challenging on weekends and evenings. The area is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the nearest transport hub. If you drive, you can park in our staff parking lot, which is close to the area. We are looking for someone who already knows they want to make a difference in the summer of 2026. With us, you will be part of something larger – our shared mission for a safer society. Apply to us for a valuable summer job that you will carry with you for the rest of your life! JOB DESCRIPTION As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you will have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied and include care, supervision, searches, and security work, combined with release planning, conversations, and motivational work. Work at the remand facility is often routine-oriented and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may sometimes be detained for long periods without contact with anyone other than the staff at the remand facility, which places special demands on your ability to create structure, security, and respectful interactions in daily life. Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for others and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You will become part of a safe and engaged workplace community where collaboration, responsibility, and respect are central values. You will begin your employment with an introduction in week 23, and you are expected to be available for work throughout the summer period. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • Completed upper secondary education or equivalent education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant. • Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Please note that internships and volunteer work are not classified as employment. • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. • Good computer skills. It is an advantage if you have: • Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, or conflict management. • Work experience in correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care. • A valid driver's license (B).
