AFRY Industry is now seeking more competent employees in Umeå - Become part of the team!
To strengthen our commitment in the north, we need to expand our operations with more design engineers and project managers in Electrical Power. Would you like to work with medium-voltage installations in a high-tech industrial environment?
We are seeking an electrical power project engineer with experience or strong interest in medium-voltage systems in industrial settings. As a project engineer, you will be a key person in our clients' investment and maintenance projects where electrical infrastructure is crucial for operational reliability. You will work on technical solutions from initial study to completed facility in an environment where electrical safety, availability, and future-proofing are in focus.

Your tasks may include:
• Designing electrical power solutions in the medium-voltage range (1-52 kV) for industrial internal power distribution networks
• Dimensioning cables, transformers, switchgear, and other equipment according to applicable standards and technical requirements
• Developing technical documentation such as drawings, diagrams, material specifications, and load calculations
• Supporting project managers and facility owners during procurement, calculation, scheduling, and installation work
• Participating in technical feasibility studies, risk analyses, and requirement specifications in new and renovation projects
• Coordinating with client's internal departments, such as electrical operations, maintenance, and production to ensure technical quality and operational reliability
• Participating in contractor follow-up, installation inspections, FAT/SAT tests, and commissioning
• Continuously improving project design routines and technical standards in the electrical power area
• Adhering to electrical safety legislation, ESA, high-voltage regulations, and internal guidelines
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
• Post-secondary technical education in electrical power or equivalent (vocational, college, or civil engineering degree)
• Practical or theoretical experience in electrical power project design (e.g., switchgear, transformer stations, power cables)
• Understanding of medium-voltage systems (1-52 kV)
• Proficiency in CAD-based drawing systems (e.g., ELPROCAD, MagiCAD, EPLAN or similar)
• Basic knowledge and understanding of electrical power standards and regulations (e.g., ESA, Electrical Safety Authority, SS-EN standards)
• Good Swedish and English skills, both spoken and written
• Class B driver's license
Desirable Additional Experience:
• Experience in electrical power project design in industrial environments
• Knowledge of relay protection, selective plans, and short-circuit calculations
• Experience in project coordination with electrical contractors and installers
• Familiarity with working in project form with project managers and maintenance departments
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, documentation systems (e.g., PDM)
• Experience in technical requirement specification and procurement
