Konstfack is Sweden's largest artistic university college focused on art, design, and handicrafts. Since 1844, we have educated a variety of professional groups in these fields as well as art and craft teachers. The library's role in this transformation includes strengthening the research infrastructure and participating in the development of collaboration and publication channels for artistic research.
The Library
• is responsible for information provision and must meet the university's needs for media in the form of books, journals, and e-resources, and houses several older special collections
• is tasked with conducting higher education pedagogical training and offers support to teachers in using digital tools, as well as to students in writing and study techniques
• reports and makes visible the university's research results and works to ensure these results are published openly accessible
• participates in the university's publication committee and is responsible for the administrative work as well as distribution and sales of publications
• offers an accessible study environment and a place for reflection, exploration, and inspiration
The library has six employees, including one library director, three librarians, two higher education pedagogical developers, one focused on ICT and one on writing.
As the Library Director, you report directly to the Administrative Director and participate in the Administrative Director's meetings with unit managers. You are the owner of the technical systems used for the library's administration, storage, and presentation of information resources.
Job Responsibilities
As the Library Director, you will:
• have overall responsibility for the library's operations, staff, and budget
• plan, implement, and follow up on areas of responsibility, tasks, and routines with staff to achieve the operational goals
• make the library's information resources and services accessible and develop them
• develop the library as a pedagogical resource in a creative and artistic environment
• maintain and strengthen collaboration forms with Konstfack's institutions, students, and teachers
• enhance the research infrastructure at Konstfack through support to doctoral candidates and researchers
• engage in information service and other relevant tasks at a smaller university library
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have a degree in library and information science or an equivalent librarian education. We also require experience in personnel management, budget responsibility, and operational planning relevant to the library and university sector. You have an excellent ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing, in both Swedish and English.
Desirable Qualifications
It is advantageous if you:
• have knowledge in Konstfack's subject areas
• have experience working in university or special libraries

You can produce, analyze, and communicate materials for organizational development and represent your field in an organized and pedagogical manner.
The role requires collaboration with various parties at the university and the surrounding society, hence we place great importance on personal suitability and social competence.
Employment
The position is full-time and is ongoing, starting with a six-month probationary period. Commencement is in January 2026 or as agreed.
