Ref: 20252391 Do you want to help direct, challenge, and enhance the developmental capacity that makes a difference for those living, working, and spending time in Malmö? We are looking for someone to shape today and tomorrow’s communication in complex societal and welfare issues in a central role at the city office. Responsibilities We are seeking an experienced communicator with the ability to plan, implement, and follow up on communication efforts within an organization with many internal and external stakeholders. You will largely be working on planning and executing communication initiatives related to complex societal and welfare issues, as well as handling event-driven assignments. You will become part of a unit responsible for communication planning and projects. In your communication assignments, you will promote openness and transparency both within Malmö City and towards residents of Malmö by facilitating effective, clear, and accessible communication. In this way, you will contribute to strengthening democracy and increasing trust in Malmö City. To achieve this, you often assume a driving and coordinating role among the departments in our large organization. Your responsibilities include developing communication strategies and plans, as well as executing proposed communication initiatives. You will also contribute to enhancing communication skills among managers and staff at the city office by supporting them in strengthening their communicative capabilities, as well as serving in your role as a proactive advisor and communication support. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: • An academic education/degree equivalent to a bachelor’s level in areas such as media and communication studies, political science, journalism, or a related field deemed relevant by the employer • Relevant extensive experience as a communicator with responsibility for creating internal and external communication focused on societal and welfare issues in a complex organization • Extensive experience independently managing qualified communication processes and projects with many stakeholders • Extensive experience advising and providing communication support to management and operations • A strong interest in societal and welfare issues and solid experience with the tools needed to translate strategic proposals into concrete communication initiatives • Very good knowledge of Office 365 and web publishing tools. It is an advantage if you have: • Experience in communication work within a politically governed organization • Embraced AI as a support in your communication efforts. We are looking for someone who has the ability to quickly immerse themselves in complex issues and prioritizes the organization’s best interests in their actions. You are accustomed to navigating environments where collaboration and structure are crucial, and you see the big picture through dialogue, curiosity, and environmental monitoring. You work independently and can prioritize and coordinate both ongoing communication tasks and larger projects involving multiple stakeholders. Regardless of the context, you maintain a solution-oriented approach. You possess strong pedagogical skills and can summarize complex issues and contexts in an understandable manner for various audiences. You thrive in and have a talent for creating and developing good relationships, collaborations, and valuable networks as you will have many points of contact. As a person, you are structured and possess strong initiative. You are an experienced writer with excellent language skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English. About the Workplace The Communications Department at the city office consists of three units responsible for digital communication, press and crisis communication, as well as communication development and projects. We work together with a holistic perspective on the city’s and city office’s communication efforts, and our mission is to develop the communication field in collaboration with the city’s other communication functions. The city office directs, challenges, and enhances the developmental capacity of the organization, the city, and the region. We are the municipal administration and work closely with the city’s leadership from a holistic perspective. The city office consists of seven different departments with a total of over 300 employees. Our departments work across a broad spectrum of areas and the administration has many employees with high levels of specialized expertise.
