Communication Strategist - Temporary Position

Are you an engaged and driven person who wants to help develop the communication of Borås City? Then you might be the one we're looking for. We offer varied work in a creative environment. You will work at the central communication department of Borås City's City Management Office, where we are seven committed employees with different skills and experiences working on comprehensive, strategic communication issues. The work at the department also involves contributing to concrete communication efforts - such as quickly formulating messages for publication in various channels on the same day. Here, you will have the opportunity to both develop and create, both at a strategic level and through daily communication craftsmanship. In the job, you will collaborate with managers, specialists, and other employees within the municipality. Our office is located in the City Hall, centrally situated in Borås, close to the central station. Communication Strategist (Temporary Position) Work Tasks We are now recruiting a communication strategist who will drive, initiate, and implement communication activities in development processes and projects led by the City Management Office. The work also involves developing and improving the quality of the municipality's communication together with colleagues in the department. Currently, a large part of the position involves editing our digital staff magazine Saxen and the citizens' magazine Såklart Borås, but this may change. In 2026, we will modify the publication of Såklart Borås, focusing more on continuous digital content. The issues of Såklart Borås produced before summer and distributed at the end of August/beginning of September will primarily focus on informing about the upcoming general election. The second issue will be published when it becomes clear how Borås City will be governed for the 2027-2030 term. Other development work in the communication area and supporting the communication manager in preparing matters for the City Council are also part of your job in the department. Additional Information We will conduct interviews from December 1-5. Qualifications You have a college education, for example, in media and communication studies, journalism, or another field we deem equivalent. To succeed in the role, you have several years of experience in both strategic and operational communication work. As a strategist, you are comfortable driving and explaining the communication perspective in the working groups you are part of. You should be able to coordinate all threads in the magazine production described above, which includes close collaboration with external providers of layout and printing services. You are a skilled writer with a good sense of form and language, and the ability to structure information and find the core in complex contexts. You are a good photographer and can work in Photoshop, and have experience with social media and web publishing tools. As a person, you are active and take initiative to achieve results. You independently structure and plan your work and are both analytical and creative. To thrive as a communication strategist with us, it is important that you have the ability to work with strategic improvisation. You are driven and capable of acting immediately while ongoing planned work continues. You have the ability to make independent assessments and priorities and show good judgment in statements, actions, and decisions. Good collaboration skills and attentiveness are requirements for success in the assignment.
