About this role
Do you want to work in an environment where courage, collaboration, and a belief in the future are integral parts of everyday life – while also having a role where you both create content and help shape one of the municipality's most exciting initiatives? Are you passionate about communication, storytelling, and building strong messages that engage? Then the role of communicator within Society Expo could be just right for you. Here, you will be involved in developing the future of Skellefteå, driving creative processes, and contributing to showcasing a community development that sparks interest and inspiration both locally and nationally.
YOUR ROLE
As a communicator within Society Expo, you will have a broad and varied assignment where you combine strategic thinking with operational execution. You will be responsible for planning, producing, and developing communication efforts that clearly reflect the project's vision and goals. The role requires creativity, curiosity, and the ability to create content that resonates — while also managing many parallel processes. You will work closely with colleagues within Skellefteå municipality and the municipal group, as well as our contracted agencies, and be an important link in collaborations with businesses, civil society, and academia. Your daily tasks will include driving communication projects from idea to finished result, developing and quality-assuring content for digital platforms, and ensuring that communication meets high standards and reaches the right target audience. You will lead content production for the web, social media, and digital press rooms, and play a key role in creating and distributing messages that showcase Skellefteå's journey — both for those of us living here and for national and international stakeholders. In close collaboration with the communication team, you will also be responsible for ensuring that internal and external communication is cohesive and reinforces each other.
As the project evolves, the assignment may also change. You are expected to take initiative, identify new opportunities, and contribute to the development of communication efforts over time.
YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with experience in driving and project-managing communication initiatives from planning to execution, preferably with a focus on digital solutions. You have post-secondary education in communication, media, marketing, or equivalent competence that provides you with the right tools for the role. You are a skilled communicator who can confidently express yourself in both Swedish and English, and who thrives in a role where you engage with various target groups. You are curious, action-oriented, and adept at building relationships — whether collaborating with internal colleagues, businesses, or external partners. To succeed in this role, you need to be self-driven, structured, and comfortable in environments where conditions may change. You take responsibility, see the bigger picture, and are accustomed to working with actors from both the public and private sectors.
YOUR NEW WORKPLACE
You will be part of the municipal executive office at Skellefteå municipality, where we are driving the time-limited project Society Expo (2023–2026). Here, we work together across boundaries in a culture characterized by courage, belief in the future, and high ambition. The project is about creating new collaborations, testing ideas, and showcasing Skellefteå's unique development journey — both locally and globally.
As a communicator, you will have a significant influence on how we tell our story and how we engage the world in it. You will be part of a project that makes a difference, sparks curiosity, and helps shape the image of the future Skellefteå.
GOOD TO KNOW
The position is located at the municipal executive office and is time-limited during the project period. You will report to the Expo Manager. The employment is time-limited for six months. Selection will take place continuously during the application period.
We warmly welcome your application — and to a workplace where the future is created every day.
