About this role

Our associate pastor in the Sweden-Finnish community has embarked on new adventures, and we are seeking a new associate pastor at 100%. The Sweden-Finnish work of the Church of Sweden in Örebro encompasses the entire parish but is physically located in the Mikael congregation. Many Sweden-Finns come here regularly for both Finnish-speaking and bilingual services, as well as a wide range of activities for all ages. Within the community, there is a longing for the pastor's presence and for deeper engagement. The Sweden-Finnish team consists of a pastor, a deacon assistant, and an administrator, and is also part of the work team in the Mikael congregation. Job Responsibilities: As a pastor in the Sweden-Finnish ministry of Örebro parish, you will celebrate mass regularly in both Finnish and Swedish. In the Sweden-Finnish work, you will be responsible for services, church ceremonies, pastoral care, teaching, services in nursing homes, and devotions in various contexts. We would like you to feel comfortable working with both the elderly and with children and their families. The role also includes a significant amount of networking with the congregations in the parish, with other Sweden-Finnish associations, as well as with the municipality and region, as Örebro County is a Sweden-Finnish administrative area. An important part of the job is to work towards collaboration and integration between the Sweden-Finnish community and the Swedish-speaking congregation. As a pastor in Örebro parish, you will also be part of shared vacation schedules and are expected to conduct Swedish-language church ceremonies and services in our various churches, as well as participate in parish-wide activities. There is room in the role to develop what you are passionate about. We are now looking for a priest who: • Is ordained and has good knowledge of both Finnish and Swedish, written and spoken. • Feels at home in Finnish culture and traditions. • Is adept at collaborating, cooperating, and building relationships. • Has a diaconal approach. • Is flexible, creative, and shares our longing for community and depth. • Appreciates working with others but can also work independently and take initiative. This is us! Mikael congregation is located in the western part of Örebro, where there is a rich religious, cultural, and linguistic diversity. The congregation is characterized by an open and welcoming atmosphere, with many engaged members and a wonderful community both on Sundays and weekdays. Mikael congregation is a present and vibrant church that, based on baptism, seeks to carry Christ's love and hope to the world. Many of Örebro's Sweden-Finns gather here for both everyday life and celebrations. In Örebro parish, there are about 8,500 Sweden-Finns. The Church of Sweden in Örebro consists of eight congregations with a rich and varied parish life. We have a shared office and cemetery administration. Additionally, there is the Solliden conference center and individual and family counseling. We are a force that people rely on, a strong and sought-after community actor in Örebro and Lekeberg.
