About this role
In our administration, over 1,000 employees work across five different sectors: Property, Streets and Parks, Digital Transformation & IT, Meal Services, and Cleaning and Operational Services. We plan, build, and maintain properties, roads, and outdoor environments. We provide transportation services and manage internal tasks to ensure the municipality's operations run smoothly. For example, we ensure that the IT environment functions safely, that our facilities are kept clean, and that the municipality's schools and residences can serve healthy meals. What unites us is the desire to facilitate everyday life for Umeå's more than 130,000 residents.
Meal Services in Umeå Municipality encompasses the preparation and serving of lunches in both preschools and primary schools, secondary schools, restaurants, and several units within elderly care. Our mission is to provide excellent service and nutritious meals for our diners, and to work together with staff in schools and care services to foster an understanding of the importance of food for good health and well-being. Through public meals, Meal Services contributes to good public health and sustainable development.
Lundagård is a collaborative house that includes preschool, care homes, and a production kitchen.
We are located in Sofiehem, close to both the university and Norrland University Hospital. In the production kitchen, a large number of meal portions are prepared and distributed to residences and preschools throughout Umeå Municipality.

Your Responsibilities
As a chef with us, you will be responsible for cooking and managing special dietary needs. In Lundagård's production kitchen, we prioritize cooking from scratch regarding menu, cooking methods, and texture adaptation. You will work with self-monitoring, dishwashing, cleaning, and other common tasks in a large kitchen. You will provide excellent service and contribute to ensuring our diners are satisfied. You will serve as a Meal Services chef throughout Umeå Municipality and cover other kitchens as needed.

Working hours are scheduled during daytime on weekdays and weekends.
About You
We are looking for someone with a culinary education and experience working in large kitchens, preferably in elderly care. The position also requires good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, to ensure safe and clear communication with residents, children, relatives, and colleagues in both elderly care and preschool.
Strong collaboration skills and good social competence are essential for this role, as the work involves close contact with both colleagues and those we serve. We also expect you to be attentive to perceive and understand different needs, engage with people appropriately, and create a safe and respectful environment.
Heavy lifting occurs in the workplace, and smoking is present, so you should not have allergies.
