About this role
Stensund Folk High School is seeking a Chef (100% position)
We are looking for a creative, driven, and above all, cheerful chef to join our team. After over 45 years, one of our kitchen staff members is retiring, and we are seeking her replacement.
We are a small team, and it is essential that everyone contributes to the smooth operation of the kitchen. The role includes cooking, salad preparation, baking, dishwashing, and cleaning of the kitchen and dining area. Working hours vary between 06:45-19:00 during the term and 07:00-20:00 during the summer, with a few weekends and late evenings required. The restaurant is a significant and integral part of the school community, and you will have close contact with the participants, which requires a high level of personal maturity and a professional attitude.
The kitchen team consists of a head chef, two cooks, and a part-time dishwasher. We serve breakfast and lunch five days a week and dinner from Monday to Thursday. The school has a boarding facility with approximately 80 residents, and a total of 200 participants, serving around 50-100 breakfasts, 100-200 lunches, and 50-100 dinners. Since we have the same guests every day, there are high demands for creativity and responsiveness; our goal is to provide a balanced and varied diet. Many of the school's participants have a strong interest in health, which is reflected in our extensive salad bar. The school's governing body is the Swedish Frisksport Federation, which is why the school is completely alcohol-free and serves a lot of vegetarian food to align with the governing body's focus on vegetarian cuisine.
During the summer, we partially change our character, hosting a large number of summer courses with various focuses, as well as several conferences throughout the summer. During these weeks, there is more of everything: more snacks, more prepared meals, desserts, and good non-alcoholic beverages. Summer is an intense period, and it is essential that you can pitch in when needed.
The workplace lacks public transportation, which requires you to have your own car to commute to and from work.
