JOB DESCRIPTION
Kiruna City Library is entering an exciting phase due to new premises in the Culture House Aurora, centrally located in the new city center. If you want to help create the future library services in Kiruna, this is the position for you.
The position is a combined public and school librarian role, as Kiruna City Library also encompasses school library assignments.
You will work 50% as a children's librarian at the city library, with a particular focus on promoting reading initiatives aimed at children and young people, both digitally and in person. Your responsibilities will also include assisting visitors at the information desk, media planning, purchasing, and weeding.
The other 50% of your role will be as a school librarian. Here too, the focus will be on promoting reading through activities such as book talks, reading projects, and author discussions. You will also work to strengthen students' media and information literacy. You will collaborate with the existing school librarian across all schools in the municipality, but your primary workplace will be at the city library.
You will be part of the Children and School Library team alongside a school librarian, a youth librarian, and a library administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying have a degree in library and information science. You need to have good knowledge of literature, particularly children's and young adult literature, and feel comfortable with digital tools. You should be able to speak in front of both large and small groups and have strong proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. As a person, you are creative, structured, and possess good collaborative skills. To thrive in this role, you should enjoy working with children and young people and be able to independently plan and execute activities. You can organize and structure your work and follow up and evaluate results. You appreciate new experiences and challenges.
A valid driver's license (B) is required.
