I have Dravet syndrome, a difficult-to-treat form of epilepsy. Unfortunately, I am extremely infection-sensitive, and a common cold can make me very ill.
I most enjoy being at home with my family and dogs, which will be the assistant's workplace. I'm interested in playing music, using my iPad, painting pictures, and watching DVD movies. I also have a strong interest in shopping. As a personal assistant, you will help with everything that may arise in daily life, such as dressing and personal care.
You will function as an extension of my arms and legs. I use a wheelchair and need help with mobility, so as an assistant, you need to be in good physical shape.
Additional responsibilities include tube feeding, feeding, and some medication management. You will stimulate and slow down activities as needed, as I have a low threshold for seizures and poor impulse control. I understand everything said to me but have difficulty expressing myself in conventional speech. I use my own words and expressions mixed with "regular" words, so you will need to help and support me in communication.
For this position, you must have:
- Good Swedish skills, both spoken and written
- B driver's license
- Good and strong physical condition
It is advantageous if you have:
- Healthcare education or similar previous work experience (though not required). During training, you will learn the necessary medical aspects, such as tube feeding, medication management, and blood sugar monitoring.
Personal suitability is the most important factor.
Work hours and employment:
Daytime Sundays from 8 AM to 4 PM. Some flexibility in time and number of Sundays per month, with the possibility of a weekday alternative.
