National Security Advisor's Organization, Government Offices Do you want to take a strategic management role responsible for leading the Prime Minister's international work and contributing to the government's security policy? We are seeking a Head of Chancellery who wants to help shape Sweden's role in the world – in close collaboration with the National Security Advisor. Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow. As Head of Chancellery, you will lead the work at the Chancellery for Foreign and Security Policy Affairs, which is part of the National Security Advisor's organization. You are responsible for distributing work and creating participation among the chancellery's employees, while ensuring the highest quality in the Prime Minister's and National Security Advisor's international work. You will drive and coordinate the planning and implementation of the Prime Minister's and National Security Advisor's international commitments, and assist with issues related to the government's security policy and the national security council. You will take overall responsibility for the Prime Minister's external engagements, from conceptualization and programming to protocol and practical implementation. The role involves close collaboration with other chancelleries under the security advisor, the Prime Minister's staff, and several departments within the Government Offices. You will represent the organization in internal and external forums and maintain an active international contact network across all areas of the chancellery's operations. The position involves personnel management, specific areas of responsibility, and periodically high workload with extensive travel. Learn more about our operations at www.government.se. Your Background You have an academic degree and extensive experience of qualified work in the Government Offices, preferably in a staff position or close to political leadership. You have experience in management and leadership, service at a Swedish diplomatic mission, and work within several of the Foreign Ministry's geographical and functional areas of responsibility. You have good knowledge of security policy and strategic security issues, as well as good general awareness. You have excellent linguistic ability in both Swedish and English, spoken and written. It is meritorious if you have knowledge of the Government Offices' various areas of operation, experience from other departments such as the Ministry of Justice or Ministry of Defense, or from underlying agencies. Language skills in German or French are also meritorious. Your Characteristics As a leader, you have a holistic view and communicate overarching goals, involve others early, and promote cooperation for unified leadership. You drive the development of operations and work environment, lead change with courage, and encourage learning and development initiatives while developing your own competence and leadership. You focus on results by prioritizing, making decisions, and showing trust in employees' competence by supporting and coaching, and addressing problems in a timely manner. In this role, you should also have a good ability to lead, develop, motivate, and support employees, creating a pleasant and good work environment. You think and act strategically, prioritize and make decisions with good judgment. You are responsible, initiative-taking, receptive, and have high integrity. You also have the ability to create, drive, and complete projects, to distill essentials from large amounts of information and summarize them concisely. You are a good representative of the organization. Other Information Time-limited management appointment of 2–3 years. The position is placed in a security class, and a security review with register control will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
