Head Chef for Ubåtshallen – Start March 1, 2026
At the lunch restaurant Ubåtshallen, we prepare modern and delicious traditional Swedish dishes with high ambition. Every day, we serve a traditional dish, an internationally inspired dish, a vegetarian option, soup, a fresh salad buffet, and freshly baked bread to approximately 200–300 guests daily.
We serve lunch five days a week and also handle catering outside of these hours. Additionally, we produce cakes and food for Café Novell at the City Library. Ubåtshallen is a workplace for those who appreciate quality, structure, and a positive atmosphere in the kitchen.
About the Role
As the Head Chef, you will have overall responsibility for the kitchen and play a central role in ensuring that operations run smoothly and maintain high quality. You will lead the team in daily tasks and create a safe and positive work environment.
Your responsibilities include:
• Leading and developing staff and distributing tasks
• Scheduling, personnel responsibility, and onboarding new employees
• Menu planning and creating weekly menus
• Ensuring high quality of all food leaving the kitchen
• Responsibility for self-control, hygiene, dishwashing, and cleaning
• Orders, inventory management, and food cost control
• Establishing and following routines, instructions, and allergen lists
• Managing supplier contacts according to agreements
• Participating in management meetings and being well-prepared
• Ensuring that the production for Café Novell maintains the same quality as the rest of Ubåtshallen's food
Working hours are primarily weekdays during lunch service, but evenings and weekends may occur for catering.

We serve lunch five days a week and handle catering outside of these hours. As we are still a new company, we are experimenting with various ideas to expand, possibly including breakfast. Ubåtshallen is a perfect workplace for those who are creative. If you have your own ideas, you are free to discuss, experiment, and present them with your team.
About the Role:
Your primary tasks are to create a wonderful daily experience for our guests together with your colleagues, as well as to lead and develop the staff. You have overall responsibility for the restaurant, which includes personnel responsibility, scheduling, ordering, and distributing tasks. You are a meticulous and structured leader who spreads positive energy. We also value your ability to translate words into action.
You will have overall responsibility for service and quality of the finished product from the kitchen. You are responsible for ensuring that the food quality is always top-notch. You should have a good understanding of the collective agreements that apply to us and ensure they are followed.
You will create weekly menus and provide staff with an updated list of allergens in the menu. You will create detailed lists with clear routines and instructions (what, where, when, and by whom) for each area of responsibility and ensure that these are followed by the staff. You will attend the restaurant's management meetings and be well-prepared for the agenda items sent out in advance.
You will adhere to written agreements regarding the purchasing of goods and maintain good relations with our suppliers as much as possible. You will be responsible for food, dishwashing, and cleaning. You will manage the onboarding of new employees and their training/development.
The position is 100% and the working hours are primarily scheduled for weekdays when lunch is served, but also evenings and weekends in the event of catering.
