We are now seeking two lawyers for fixed-term employment at the Unit for Social Services and Disability Policy at the Ministry of Social Affairs. Here, you will contribute to reforms that strengthen quality and competence within social care for children and youth, thereby aiding the development of Sweden's welfare system.

The unit addresses issues within social care for children and youth, individual and family support services, and care for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The unit is also responsible for coordinating child rights policy, disability policy, and certain social insurance benefits. The work encompasses central components of social services, including placements of children and youth, both voluntary and compulsory care, interventions against youth crime, and preventive social work against criminality. Current legislation includes the Social Services Act and the Act with Special Provisions on the Care of Young Persons (LVU).
As a lawyer with us, you will work on legislative matters and analyses within the unit's areas of responsibility. This includes preparing proposals for legal council briefs, bills, and committee directives as well as analyzing and compiling materials for government decisions. Your role will also involve working on government mandates, parliamentary issues, and interpellations, as well as participating in coordinating the unit's legislative processes and ongoing reforms. The work is conducted in close collaboration with other parts of the Government Offices, agencies, and external stakeholders. You may also represent Sweden in various international processes and contexts. The scope of work may evolve over time depending on the government’s priorities and current reform needs.
Your background
We are looking for candidates who have completed a law degree and have extensive experience in qualified legal work, preferably in the area of social law. You possess a good understanding of social services and its regulatory framework, as well as an excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
Experience in legislative work or positions within the Government Offices, strategic research and analysis in public administration, or as an appellate court or administrative court assessor is advantageous. Familiarity with crime prevention work is also beneficial. A solid understanding of the requirements for work and conditions in a politically governed environment is considered meritorious.

Additional information
We offer two fixed-term positions in accordance with SÄVA, with the possibility of starting as soon as possible and lasting for no more than 360 days. A security screening will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
