Job Description
Your main task as a Foster Care Coordinator is to identify, assign, and support emergency homes/network homes/temporary foster homes for short-term placements of children and youth. You should enjoy quick case management, like collaborating across boundaries, and be flexible in your work. You are the placement units' external face to our sister units within the Children and Youth Authority department, staff, and our external foster family providers. Work is primarily during weekdays, but evening work may occur when the operation requires it.
All Foster Care Secretaries' basic tasks include:
• Finding and matching contractors to the child's needs
• Investigating contractors
• Providing support and guidance before and during the placement period
• Managing economics regarding fees and expenses related to the assignment
• Continuously documenting in contractors' journals
We investigate contractors according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines and in-depth interviews via NKI. We provide qualified support interventions to our contractors, including MAFI filmings and supervision. Within the foster care group, the above varies in scope but always focuses on the more urgent need to place a child (today/tomorrow/next week). Foster Care Coordinators also conduct network assessments, follow up on our contracted emergency homes, and hold reflection groups with our emergency homes.
The position includes travel throughout the country when following up and visiting emergency homes and children. You will collaborate closely with the child's social worker, making visits together with them and/or our school team. You always keep the child's best interests in focus to best match and support contractors in their assignments regarding the placed child.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone with a social work degree or equivalent education as assessed by the employer. To succeed in the role, you need experience supporting foster homes and guiding contractors. The work requires excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written. You also need good computer and system proficiency. Since travel is part of the job, you must have a B driver's license.
As a person, you are calm and collected in various situations and can focus on the right things. You are flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances. You have strong empathetic abilities and can quickly understand another's perspective or situation. The job suits someone who collaborates and relates to others in a sensitive and smooth manner.
