There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet high school eligibility requirements. At the non-profit Foundation Läxhjälpen, you contribute your skills and commitment to help more students achieve eligibility requirements with confidence for their future. We are now seeking homework helpers in Gävle! We are looking for someone interested in a paid part-time job who also wants to make a concrete social contribution. The position is an hourly employment in the afternoons/evenings, essentially working as a homework helper after school at one of our partner schools. Here, you will work in a team of three homework helpers, all of whom are university students. You will receive training in, and work according to, our structured methodology. Each homework help group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work. As a homework helper, you can work either as a regular helper or as a substitute. As a regular homework helper, you work 6 hours per week, spread across two scheduled afternoons/evenings (with opportunities for extra shifts). As a substitute, you work when regular helpers are off or sick. Work is performed after school hours in school premises. We are seeking candidates who: - Are university or college students - Have pedagogical skills and can communicate and build relationships with children and youth - Are solution-oriented, proactive, and can work according to our structured approach and method - Have broad foundational subject competence and good study techniques - Share the Foundation Läxhjälpen's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future Since the job involves working with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Presenting a police record extract to the employer is a statutory requirement for working with children and youth. The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine the likelihood of academic success. Läxhjälpen is a non-profit foundation that works where help is needed most. Homework help is free for students, and homework helpers' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and public sector. Läxhjälpen is a concrete initiative that addresses one of Sweden's biggest problems today - that more and more young people are struggling in school and risk being excluded from society. Carefully selected, paid college students help young people with their studies two evenings a week while also serving as positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal - to raise grades and help students progress to high school.
