Do You Want to Make a Difference? 19,916 students did not complete primary school in Sweden during the 2023/2024 academic year. There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet high school eligibility requirements. At the non-profit foundation Läxhjälpen, you contribute your skills and commitment to help more students achieve eligibility requirements with confidence in their future. We are now seeking new homework helpers in Borlänge! We are looking for those interested in a paid part-time job who also want to make a concrete social contribution. This is an hourly position in the afternoons/evenings that involves providing homework assistance after school hours at one of our partner schools. With us, you work in teams of three homework helpers, all of whom are university students. You will receive training in and work according to our structured approach. Each homework help group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work. As a homework helper, you can work either as a regular helper or as a substitute. Regular homework helpers work 6 hours per week, distributed across two scheduled afternoons/evenings (with opportunities for extra shifts). Substitutes work when regular helpers are off or sick. Work is performed after school hours in the school facilities. We are seeking candidates who: - Are university or college students - Have pedagogical skills and can communicate and build relationships with children and youth - Are solution-oriented, proactive, and can work according to our structured approach and method - Have broad foundational subject competence and good study techniques - Share Läxhjälpen's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future Since the job involves working with children, we place great importance on personal suitability. Presenting a criminal record extract to the employer is a statutory requirement for working with children and youth. Differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine the likelihood of school success. Läxhjälpen is a non-profit foundation that works where help is needed most. Homework assistance is free for students, and homework helpers' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and public sector. Läxhjälpen is a concrete initiative that addresses one of Sweden's biggest problems today - that more and more young people are not succeeding in school and risk being marginalized from society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and serve as positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured approach with a clear goal - to improve grades and help students progress to high school.
