About this role
SGI has begun its journey towards Microsoft's cloud services and is now seeking an experienced IT technician who wants to take a comprehensive approach and drive further development.
You will become part of our IT unit consisting of four people with a broad responsibility for operations, development, and support of the entire agency's IT environment. We collaborate closely with the business and have significant influence over SGI's digital development. The Swedish Geotechnical Institute (SGI) is an expert agency working to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable construction and sustainable use of land and natural resources. Our tasks include preventing landslides, collapses, and coastal erosion. SGI also works on developing new methods for decontaminating polluted areas. SGI belongs to the Climate and Business Department and has approximately 100 employees in total. The main office is located in Linköping, with additional offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.
WORK TASKS
As an IT technician at SGI, you will work broadly and variedly with the entire agency's IT environment. You will become a key person in a small and tight-knit team where we collectively are responsible for:
• Operation, development, and administration of various IT systems
• Investigating, planning, implementing, and documenting IT systems
• Troubleshooting technical problems
• Datacenter infrastructure including physical servers, storage systems, networks, etc.
• VMware environment with approximately 80 virtual servers
• Citrix VDI environment with over 100 GPU-accelerated virtual computers
• Microsoft 365. Entra ID, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, etc.
• Client management of laptops and mobile phones, and peripheral equipment
• IT security including antivirus, firewall, email protection, certificates, vulnerabilities
• Installation and operation of applications
• Meeting platforms Zoom and Teams and associated conference systems
• Windows server, Active Directory, and Exchange
• Operation of various business-adjacent systems
• First-line user support is primarily handled by a specific person, but the entire team assists when needed
• Technical support at second and third levels is managed by the rest of the IT unit, including this role

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a higher education in IT or who has built up equivalent competence through experience. To thrive and succeed in the role, you have knowledge and several years of experience in the following areas:
• Microsoft 365
• Working in complex IT environments
• Driving technical improvement and development projects
• Hybrid environments
• Microsoft on-premises products
It is meritorious if you also have experience with:
• Server virtualization
• Citrix or other VDI solutions
