About this role

IT Department at Stockholm University consists of approximately 120 employees who have overall responsibility for Sweden's largest university's IT environment. This involves developing, managing, deploying, and monitoring platforms, systems, and services that support academia, education, research, and administration. Are you our new IT Network Technician who wants to help develop and ensure the operation of Stockholm University's IT network with a focus on network security? We are currently strengthening our IT Department at Stockholm University by expanding our network team facing exciting tasks. Here you will contribute to an important part of developing our comprehensive IT network. As an IT Network Technician with a focus on security, you will help support the university's core activities in education and research. Job Responsibilities For this role, we are seeking reinforcement with a person who will be an important part of an engaged network team currently consisting of five technicians, product owners, and a scrum master. You will help drive network development by, for example, streamlining and automating. We have a strong focus on security and are therefore seeking someone passionate about network security. We have a large and complex network spanning multiple sites and approximately 35,000 full-time students and 6,000 employees. We are also facing a major location optimization project where the network team plays a crucial role in creating conditions for a secure and user-friendly network. Qualifications We are seeking candidates who have: - Relevant academic degree or equivalent knowledge acquired otherwise. - Several years of experience in IT network operations in a larger organization, including securing and monitoring networks, automating, and simplifying administration of large complex networks. - Several years of experience working with networks such as: - Operation and understanding of firewall solution design from vendors like Fortinet - Dynamic routing protocols like BGP and OSPF - Large and complex access networks (LAN) - L2 over L3 such as VXLAN and MPLS - Good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written communication. Meritorious experience includes: - NGFW and Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA) - Experience with IDS/IPS tools - Experience with Netflow and syslog network traffic - Experience working in larger environments using switch fabric from vendors like Cisco or Extreme - Secure access with 802.1x, Radius, and PKI - DNS operations - DHCP troubleshooting - Load balancing with anycast or hardware solutions - Shell scripting with Bash, Python, or Powershell - Certifications such as Network+, Security+, GSEC, GDSA, GCIA, or similar Personal Characteristics: As a person, you are a true team player who takes significant personal responsibility for your and the team's work. Given the role's nature, it is important that you are security-conscious, responsible, and meticulous. You will also have many contact points, so it is important that you have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English, have good collaboration abilities, and are flexible.
