The Culture and Leisure Administration's area of responsibility includes Ystad Monastery, Ystad Art Museum, Ystad Library, Youth Center, Cultural School, Marietorp Nature School, Ystad Arena Swimming Pool and Halls, Nybrostrand Beach, and sports facilities, along with close contact with local associations. Approximately 100 employees work here to create good conditions for a stimulating and active leisure time and an enriching cultural life for Ystad's residents.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize, communicate, and coordinate public art in the city.
Management - Register, photograph, and update artwork information in databases. Plan and coordinate conservation, cleaning, and repair of artworks owned by the city, both those placed outdoors (public art) and deposited in facilities (schools, special housing, offices, etc.). Maintain order of valuations, insurance, and agreements to protect the collection. Coordinate moving, re-hanging, and new placement of works during renovations or operational changes.
Visibility of Art for the Public - Plan viewings, exhibitions, maps, and informational materials. Create programs, lectures, or digital content explaining the significance of art in public spaces. Work with various departments, associations, schools, and civil society to make art accessible.
In your work with public visual art, contribute to an attractive, inclusive, and identity-creating public environment in the city's spaces, buildings, and common areas. The assignment includes work with the 1% rule, exhibition activities, and the existing art collection. The workplace is Ystad Art Museum.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking someone with a university degree in art history, and it is important that you have previously worked in municipal operations. You also need experience in methodical and systematic work with art in public environments, preferably in smaller municipalities or local contexts.
Ability to work independently but also in close dialogue with multiple stakeholders. Possesses great patience and high competence in project management, administration, and organization. Interested in art education and other learning processes directed towards the public. Good communication skills in speech and writing with an interest in the location's history and residents' perspectives. Preferably clear language skills.
We are seeking an outgoing and meticulous team player, with intuition and a well-developed network in the Swedish contemporary art scene.
