About this role

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also executes secure residential care for youth. We do this in youth homes and facilities for adults with addiction, across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you will contribute to creating life-changing transformations. SiS Youth Home Eknäs accepts non-school-attending boys with psychosocial issues, as well as criminal and substance abuse problems. **Job Description** SiS Youth Home Eknäs is seeking an experienced and dedicated director who wants to lead and develop the operations. SiS is undergoing significant change, where operations are evolving on multiple fronts simultaneously. We adapt and optimize our work based on new and changing needs both in society and within our own organization. We know that engaged and driven leaders are crucial for meeting today's and future challenges. As the director, you are responsible for care and treatment, you are the head of schooling, and the operational manager for the health and medical care provided at the institution. The work involves managing the regular operations in accordance with legal requirements and ensuring a functioning, ongoing systematic quality work. As the director, you will also be tasked with driving development work in line with the authority’s strategic goals. In your role, you will collaborate with external stakeholders such as social services and child and adolescent psychiatric services, as well as internally within the organization. The operations are event-driven and often unpredictable with many areas of conflict, which means you must be able to navigate and balance different interests both within and outside the operations. The work needs to be carried out in a structured manner, and maintaining "order and clarity" is a fundamental principle of the organization. As the director, you have full responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel for your institution. You will report directly to the department director for youth care and will be part of the leadership group along with colleagues. Directly reporting to the director are the quality manager, administrative manager, headmaster, and unit managers for the various departments, all of whom are part of the institution's leadership team. There is also a safety coordinator at the youth home who reports directly to the director. **Qualifications** We are looking for someone who has: - An academic degree of at least 180 credits, focused on social, healthcare, or behavioral sciences, or another relevant academic qualification. - Several years of current managerial experience from operations focusing on care, treatment, and safety, such as social services, healthcare and treatment, correctional care, or similar areas. - Solid experience in operations focusing on care, treatment, and safety, such as social services, healthcare and treatment, correctional care, or similar areas. It is advantageous if you have: - Experience in providing care and treatment for the relevant target group. - Previous managerial experience within government operations. - Experience managing other managers. - Experience leading change initiatives. - Experience handling media attention. As the operations are often event-driven, you need to be comfortable making decisions, re-prioritizing, and quickly adjusting both pace and direction. You remain calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. At the same time, there are high demands for you to have a holistic perspective and the capacity to work systematically and structurally to ensure the quality of care based on the authority's goals, guidelines, values, and applicable laws. You know how to prioritize and easily set goals and follow up on results. To fit in this role, we see that you take responsibility for the whole and act strategically to realize SiS's vision and goals. You create conditions for good results and tackle challenges, acting with courage when necessary. You are a good role model and trust your employees' and colleagues' competencies while encouraging their development and ownership. You involve your employees in our development work and create conditions for an active workforce and a learning organization. You promote good cooperation within SiS and with other partners. You are communicative and create dialogue, participation, and engagement. At SiS, we care about good leadership. This means that as a manager and leader, you take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good cooperation, and communicate clearly.
