There is now a unique opportunity to experience working with exciting oversight within the defense sector. The Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment is seeking an inspector in food and animal welfare, based at the Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm. Together with other inspectors, you will contribute to ensuring that the Armed Forces' operations and growth comply with laws and regulations.
About the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment
The Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment conducts oversight within the Armed Forces, the Fortifications Agency, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the Defence Radio Establishment. We are responsible for supervision over environmental and health protection, healthcare, infection control, as well as public control of food, animal by-products, feed, and animal welfare within the Armed Forces. When the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment exercises oversight and control, the inspector is not subordinate to the Chief of Defence.
The Health and Environment section conducts oversight and control in the areas of food, healthcare, nature conservation, and animal welfare. The section consists of ten employees. You will belong to a group of three working with food control.
Main Responsibilities
As an Inspector in the areas of food and animal welfare, you will work to ensure compliance with legislation in the areas of food and drinking water, as well as various types of animal husbandry activities. The work includes both planned and event-driven inspections, processing, investigations, advice, decisions, and other tasks within the relevant legislative areas.
The position involves conducting inspections and oversight on-site across the country, and occasionally participating in exercises or assignments abroad. Travel occurs regularly, primarily within Sweden.
You will be given significant responsibility and good opportunities to plan and organize your work, including inspection activities and travel. The role offers varied and meaningful work where you contribute to safe food, good animal welfare, and a sustainable society.

Requirements
Qualifications
• Academic degree in a natural science field, such as food science, animal welfare, or another equivalent discipline
• Relevant work experience in the field
• Good proficiency in spoken and written Swedish and English
• Class B driver's license
