About this role

HR Manager for Uppsala Parish Do you want to lead HR efforts in a broad and meaningful organization with over 280 employees? Our current HR Manager is retiring – we are looking for someone to take over the baton and contribute to the development of one of the largest parishes in the Church of Sweden. About Uppsala Parish The parish consists of five congregations: Gamla Uppsala, Gottsunda, Helga Trefaldighets, Uppsala Cathedral, and Vaksala. It also includes the Hospital Church, University Church, five preschools, Uppsala cemeteries with burial services, and an office with supporting functions. In total, we have approximately 280 employees. Your office at the parish office is just a stone's throw from Uppsala Cathedral, where around 30 employees work. You will have personnel and budget responsibility for the HR and payroll unit, report to the Dean, and also be part of the parish management team. The HR and payroll unit consists of you, two payroll staff, and an HR generalist. Your unit is facing changes due to a planned transition to the Church of Sweden's joint payroll service, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026/2027. Your Role as HR Manager You will be responsible for HR work at both the strategic and operational levels. The role is broad and varied with many points of contact – both internally and externally. You will work proactively to develop routines, work methods, and support for managers while ensuring that the parish complies with laws and collective agreements. The position may involve collaboration with the Uppsala Diocese's service agency, which assists congregations and parishes with administrative support. As a large unit within the Uppsala Diocese, we can both assist the service agency in their tasks and utilize their services. Examples of Responsibilities - Provide consultative support to managers on issues related to labor law, collective agreement matters, salary setting and salary reviews, rehabilitation, recruitment, and workplace environment issues. - Be responsible for union collaboration and MBL negotiations on parish-wide matters. - Develop and manage processes and work methods within all HR areas, such as labor law and collective agreement issues, leadership and leadership development, skills development and training, recruitment, rehabilitation, salaries, and workplace environment. - Represent HR in the management team and in external contexts. We are looking for someone who has - A university degree in human resources or equivalent. - Several years of experience in a similar role involving broad qualified HR work such as labor law, leadership issues, workplace environment, union collaboration, salary formation, and qualified consultative support to managers. - Several years of experience in a supervisory role within HR. - Experience representing HR issues in management teams and in external contexts. - Excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of English. About You You have a strong ability to build relationships, both internally and externally, as the points of contact are extensive. You enjoy providing support to managers and employees, value collaboration with union partners, and see the importance of maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders we work with. You are responsive and work solution-oriented, driving issues in a way that is adapted to the organization. We are a large organization with diverse tasks and many different operations, professional groups, and needs. Therefore, it is important that you have a good ability to prioritize, both within your own unit's work and in the overall HR work of the parish, both in the short and long term. The role involves both strategic and operational work, so you need to be equally comfortable setting direction and contributing to implementation. To succeed as an HR Manager with us, you need to be a communicative, confident, and clear leader with personal maturity. You are self-driven in your professional role, have high integrity, and demonstrate good judgment in your actions, and last but not least, you share the fundamental values of the Church of Sweden. About the Position This is a permanent full-time position. Start date is in May 2026 or by agreement. We have a collective agreement, and you will be offered wellness benefits, wellness hours, and good opportunities for professional development.
