Södertörn University is an educational institution in Stockholm that educates, conducts research, and collaborates for sustainable societal development. Around 14,000 students study here across approximately 80 programs and over 300 courses. Education and research are conducted in humanities, social sciences, technology, and natural sciences. The university also offers teacher education with an intercultural profile and police education. Much of the research focuses on issues related to the Baltic Sea and Eastern European regions. At Södertörn University, subjects, perspectives, people, and experiences are blended. Here you'll find the curious and the questioning, those seeking unexpected combinations, development, and challenges.
Since 2015, Södertörn University has been conducting police education on behalf of the Police Authority, with approximately 800 students currently enrolled in the police program. The Department of Policing currently has around 120 employees, most of whom are teachers with policing expertise on loan from the Police Authority.
In autumn 2024, a collaborative project was launched at the department called Sweden Against Organized Crime (SMOB), sh.se/smob. SMOB is an excellence initiative aimed at strengthening Sweden's ability to combat organized crime, with a particular focus on criminal economics. By improving the capacity of professionals and strengthening collaboration between various societal actors through research, education, and innovation, SMOB contributes to society's collective ability to hinder and prevent criminal activities that threaten the country's security and welfare. The project is run by the Department of Policing at Södertörn University together with eight government agencies and four business and labor organizations. We are now seeking an administrator specializing in information retrieval for SMOB.
