We are looking for an officer for a fixed-term position of 24 months at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to work within the European partnership Biodiversa+.
In this role, you will work in a dynamic and international environment to develop, coordinate, and harmonize environmental monitoring of biodiversity in Sweden and Europe in line with the EU's Nature Conservation Directive and the Nature Restoration Regulation.
**Your Responsibilities**
The primary task is to investigate how Sweden can develop monitoring of landscapes and habitats in accordance with the EU's Nature Conservation Directive and Nature Restoration Regulation. This work involves close collaboration with ongoing work in Sweden and other partners within Biodiversa+ to coordinate and harmonize biodiversity monitoring.
Your duties will include participating in Biodiversa+ working groups, attending regular meetings (primarily digital, but on-site participation in Europe may occur), and contributing to reports and documentation. The working language within Biodiversa+ is English.
You will also lead investigations and, if necessary, procure expert support to develop and pilot test monitoring of landscapes/habitats, focusing on remote sensing methods combined with field surveys/environmental monitoring methods in the field.
In this role, you will contribute your expertise in biodiversity monitoring with a focus on remote sensing methodologies and the monitoring of landscapes/habitats in the field. You will be part of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's working group for Biodiversa+ and work closely with colleagues both in Sweden and internationally.
**Your Qualifications**
**Requirements for the Position**
- Master's degree in natural sciences or equivalent education relevant to the position.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in biodiversity monitoring with a focus on remote sensing methodology for terrestrial ecosystems.
- At least two years of experience in project management or equivalent tasks where you have been responsible for planning, coordinating, and following up efforts.
- Excellent knowledge of remote sensing techniques such as satellite, aerial imagery, drones, and laser scanning.
- Very good oral and written skills in Swedish and English.
- Basic knowledge of digital tools and working methods, e.g., Microsoft 365 and digital meeting technology.
**Meritorious**
- A doctoral degree (e.g., licentiate or doctorate) or another higher education beyond a master's degree relevant to the position.
- Knowledge of the EU's Nature Conservation Directive and regulations and their requirements for environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge and experience that align with the focus of the position, such as landscape analyses.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, i.e., long-term tracking of conditions and trends in terrestrial ecosystems.
- Experience in project management in an international environment.
- Additional language skills, particularly in European languages.

**About the Position**
The position is a government fixed-term employment for 24 months, full-time. The location of the employment is Stockholm or Östersund. Start date as soon as possible according to agreement. We apply individual salary setting.
