We are seeking an administrator for a fixed-term assignment of 24 months at Naturvårdsverket to work within the European partnership Biodiversa+.
In this role, you will work in a dynamic and international environment to develop, coordinate, and harmonize environmental monitoring of biodiversity in Sweden and Europe in line with EU conservation directives and the Nature Restoration Regulation.
Your responsibilities
The main task is to investigate how Sweden can develop and coordinate environmental monitoring of biodiversity to meet the requirements of EU conservation directives and regulations, with an emphasis on harmonizing monitoring with other member states. An important task will also be to produce material on how a Swedish national center for biodiversity monitoring can be designed to collaborate effectively with the planned European center, the European Biodiversity Coordination Centre (EBOCC).
The work involves participating in Biodiversa+ working groups, regular meetings (primarily digital, but also on-site in Europe), and contributing to reports and documentation. The working language within Biodiversa+ is English.
You will lead investigations and procure expert support as needed to coordinate, develop, and pilot test environmental monitoring of biodiversity and/or the storage and dissemination of biodiversity data. You will provide subject matter expertise in environmental monitoring and become part of Naturvårdsverket’s working group for Biodiversa+, closely collaborating with colleagues in Sweden and internationally.
Your qualifications
Requirements for employment
• Master’s degree in natural science or equivalent education relevant to the position.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in environmental monitoring of biodiversity, focusing on terrestrial ecosystems.
• At least two years of experience in project management or equivalent tasks where you have been responsible for planning, coordinating, and following up on activities.
• Very good knowledge of EU conservation directives and regulations and their requirements for environmental monitoring.
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English.
• Basic knowledge of digital tools and working methods, e.g., Microsoft 365 and digital meeting technology.
Meritorious
• Doctoral education (e.g., licentiate or doctorate) or other higher education beyond the master’s degree that is relevant to the position.
• Knowledge and experience relevant to the position's focus, such as information management involving the storage and dissemination of environmental monitoring data, analytical work focused on biodiversity.
• Experience working within Horizon Europe projects or other European collaborative projects focused on environmental monitoring and/or indicators, and/or developing essential biodiversity data sets known as essential biodiversity variables.
• Experience in project management in an international environment.
• Experience in communicative work, preferably within biodiversity.
• Proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as additional language skills, particularly in European languages.

About the employment
The position is a government fixed-term employment for 24 months. The employment is full-time. The work location is Stockholm or Östersund. Start date as soon as possible by agreement. We apply individual salary setting.
