About this role

Unit for Social Services and Disability Policy, Ministry of Social Affairs Do you want to work at the center of events concerning the living conditions of children and young people? In the Unit for Social Services and Disability Policy, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a social service that supports children, young people, and families in need of assistance from society. We are currently seeking a case officer who wants to help develop Sweden's social welfare services for children and youth. Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow. The unit deals with issues related to social welfare services for children and youth, individual and family services, as well as care for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The unit is also responsible for coordinating children's rights policy, disability policy, and certain social security benefits. The work encompasses central elements of social services, including placements of children and young people, both voluntary and involuntary care, efforts against youth crime, and preventive social work aimed at reducing criminality. Relevant legislation includes the Social Services Act and the Act on Special Provisions concerning the Care of Young People (LVU). As a case officer with us, you will experience a varied and developing role in an organization of great societal importance. The responsibilities include both ongoing matters and long-term development initiatives. You will prepare materials and meetings, handle parliamentary questions and interpellations, and participate in the coordination of unit-wide processes. The work may also involve drafting proposals for bills, government assignments, and committee directives, as well as following up on and analyzing issues within social welfare services for children and youth. Collaboration with other parts of the Government Offices, authorities, and external actors will be part of your role. You may also represent Sweden in various national and international processes and contexts. Responsibilities may change over time depending on current priorities. Your background We are looking for candidates with a completed academic degree in the social sciences, such as a degree in social work or political science. Additionally, you should have experience working in the Government Offices or another government entity, as well as experience in the social policy area. You must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and have good knowledge of English. It is an advantage if you have worked with investigative and analytical tasks in government operations and possess knowledge of social services and crime prevention work. A solid understanding of the demands and conditions in a politically governed organization is also beneficial. Other information This position is a temporary appointment starting as soon as possible until August 16, 2026. A security clearance will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
