Unit for Military Capability, Ministry of Defence
Do you want to contribute to the development of the government's governance of the Armed Forces? As one of two agency administrators in the Unit for Military Capability, you will drive the direction, governance, and follow-up of the Armed Forces and contribute to the development of military defense within the framework of total defense. You will work closely with the political leadership in a knowledge-intensive environment. You will collaborate closely with the Armed Forces and other defense authorities, with high demands for analysis, integrity, and timely delivery.

The Ministry of Defence is responsible for issues related to total defense, which includes both military and civil defense as well as the coordination of society's crisis preparedness and accident protection. We direct and follow up Sweden's contributions to NATO's deterrence and defense, international defense collaborations, and operations.
The Unit for Military Capability currently has approximately 30 employees and is responsible for matters concerning military defense. The unit addresses issues such as the military defense's wartime organization, basic organization, capability development, the military defense's environmentally impactful activities, military mobility, infrastructure and host nation support, personnel supply within the military defense, and the military defense's support to society. In your role, you will:
• Conduct strategic analyses from a capability and total defense perspective related to governance and follow-up
• Work on direction, governance, and follow-up of the Armed Forces
• Independently handle cases in preparation for government decisions
• Prepare materials for the political leadership and draft responses to parliamentary questions, interpellations, and inquiries from the public
• Monitor and drive issues nationally and internationally and contribute to the development of military defense
The work involves extensive contacts within the Government Offices and with authorities.

Your background
To be considered for the position, you need to meet the following requirements, and we also welcome additional qualifications that strengthen your profile.
Mandatory requirements
• Academic degree in a relevant field, e.g., economics, political science, or law
• Experience working as an administrator with relevant issues, within the Government Offices or another government authority
• Good knowledge of Swedish public administration
• Good knowledge of agency governance and the state budget process
• Good knowledge of defense policy as well as military and/or civil defense
Desirable
• Experience working as an administrator with relevant issues in a defense authority
• Knowledge of NATO and the EU
• Established national network relevant to the position

The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period, with a start date to be agreed upon.
The position is classified and requires a security clearance with a background check before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
