About this role
Budget Department, Ministry of Finance
Do you have a strong interest in society, are proactive, and enjoy finding solutions to problems? Then we can offer you a developing role in the heart of Swedish administration.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
The Budget Department plays a central role in the Government Offices and leads and coordinates the government's work with the state budget. We review all government decisions that have fiscal, organizational, and socio-economic implications. The Budget Department works to ensure that public funds are used as effectively as possible. Our guiding principles are sound budget discipline, socio-economic efficiency, and high cost-effectiveness. The department analyzes the effectiveness of resource use in society, provides advice on the design of economic policy, and participates in economic policy cooperation within the EU and OECD. We are also responsible for structural issues in the Swedish economy and the EU's public financial system.
We are now seeking employees with relevant experience from work in the Government Offices for several different roles. Main areas of responsibility and tasks may include:
• Contact person for a specific ministry, which involves reviewing, analyzing, preparing, and negotiating issues within one or more policy areas,
• Analysis and monitoring of the development of state budget expenditures and the design of the state's economic governance,
• Analysis, policy development, and negotiation regarding the EU's public financial system,
• Analysis of socio-economic efficiency and cost-effectiveness in economic policy at the national and EU levels,
• Working against incorrect payments and criminal recipients of public funds.
The Budget Department is characterized by a strong team spirit. Many of our employees rotate between tasks within the department after a few years, thereby developing both themselves and the organization. Our responsible tasks and knowledge-intensive environment require good cohesion. "Next to the Minister of Finance, the most important client is the colleague who needs help," summarized one of our employees regarding the department's attitude. Another employee describes it as "A workplace with high-performing colleagues, but where the atmosphere is unpretentious and free from sharp elbows." As an employee with us, you will become part of that culture.
