The Military Capability Unit at the Ministry of Defence
Would you like to work at the center of Swedish and international defense and security policy? The Ministry of Defence is developing its operations in response to the changing global situation and Sweden's membership in NATO. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to Sweden's security through engaging tasks in a highly varied work environment.

As an officer, you will work on issues related to NATO coordination, NATO's deterrence and defense activities, the EU's PESCO project on military mobility, and the European Defence Agency's projects on military mobility (Cross Border Movement Procedures/CBMP). Your tasks will involve independently handling cases and preparing materials for issues within your area of responsibility.
Your responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing information from the Armed Forces, other authorities, and international organizations in preparation for government decisions. Furthermore, your tasks will involve drafting materials for political leadership, preparing responses to parliamentary questions, interpellations, and inquiries from the public. To accomplish these tasks, you will need the ability to establish and maintain contacts both internally and externally, nationally and internationally. The position also requires representing the Ministry of Defence at international meetings and negotiations related to military mobility.

Your background
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in a relevant field, such as economics, political science, or law, or equivalent qualifications deemed suitable for the position. You should have relevant experience working with similar issues in the Government Offices, another government agency, or an international organization. Additionally, you must have a good understanding of public administration as well as knowledge of defense and security policy. The position requires you to have excellent proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish.
Current experience with the Ministry of Defence's issues and those of the relevant department is advantageous. Furthermore, relevant and up-to-date knowledge of NATO, the EU, and military mobility is also beneficial.

This position is a temporary appointment for approximately 1 year until January 2027.
The position is classified and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but having a foreign background is welcome.
