About this role

Ref: 20252578 Want to Help Build Malmö's Sustainable Future? City Properties is the city's facility provider, responsible for ensuring that Malmö's operations have functional, sustainable, and cost-effective premises. We are now seeking someone who wants to be a key player in the city's transition towards a more circular and resource-efficient construction and property management. As a Sustainability Developer specializing in circularity and reuse, you will play a central role in developing City Properties' work with building material recycling and circular flows. You will work both strategically and operationally – from developing overarching guidelines and driving development projects to supporting project managers and administrators in daily operations. This is a role for those who want to make a real difference. Your work will contribute to reduced climate footprints, better resource utilization, and a more sustainable urban environment for Malmö residents. Initially, the role will focus heavily on circularity and reuse, but may evolve to encompass more of City Properties' sustainability issues over time. Why City Properties? Here, you can drive sustainable development at a large scale – in a context where the results of your work are visible in the city's buildings, schools, preschools, and public spaces. We are an organization with a strong social mandate, committed colleagues, and a clear direction towards the future. Malmö City's core values – respect, commitment, and creativity – permeate our work and culture. Job Responsibilities Your assignment will include: • Developing strategies, routines, and working methods to increase reuse and circularity within City Properties. • Leading a Vinnova-funded development project aimed at developing and establishing a sustainable and scalable system for reusing construction and infrastructure materials in municipal operations. • Supporting project managers and administrators in planning, quality assuring, and monitoring material flows during construction and demolition. • Conducting reuse inventories during renovations and demolitions. • Being the system owner for a digital reuse system and supporting colleagues in using the tool. You will be part of the Governance and Development unit, working closely with colleagues within the department, administration, and the city's networks addressing sustainability and facility provision. Together, you will contribute to keeping City Properties at the forefront of climate transition and sustainable community development. Qualifications Who are you? To succeed in the role, we believe you are someone who enjoys driving development, building collaborations, and transforming ideas into concrete results. You are structured, curious, and able to inspire others in the transition towards a more sustainable Malmö. You have experience working both strategically and practically with sustainability issues in the construction or property sector and feel comfortable in a coordinator or project management role. Education • Requirement: Academic degree of at least 180 credits in urban development, environmental science, architecture, construction engineering, or another equivalent education with relevant experience. Experience • Requirement: At least 2 years of experience in construction, property, or infrastructure industries. • Requirement: Experience in driving development projects. • Preferred: Experience with strategic sustainability work. • Preferred: Experience with digital tools and material inventories related to building material reuse. Knowledge and Skills • Requirement: Excellent Swedish language skills, both verbal and written. • Requirement: Understanding of different stages of the construction process and actors' roles. • Preferred: Understanding of public procurement (LOU).
