About this role

The primary task of the Supreme Court is to lead the application of law through guiding decisions. The Supreme Court is the final instance for civil cases, criminal cases, and matters that have been decided by the Court of Appeal. In addition to its main role as a precedent-setting court, the Supreme Court also reviews cases concerning retrials, judicial errors, and restoration of lost time, as well as matters related to requests for extradition from other states and certain issues concerning lawyers. The Court aims to be a modern and attractive workplace with a particular focus on meaningful and developmental tasks, individually tailored professional development, significant opportunities for influence over routines and work methods, as well as engaging and developmental leadership. The Court actively works on organizational development, with the goal of having employees participate and be active in this development work. Approximately 100 people work at the Supreme Court, of which 16 are judges (justices). The Supreme Court is organized into two adjudicative divisions and a secretariat, which consists of two preparation units and one administrative unit with a registry office and archive, as well as other administrative functions. **Job Responsibilities** As a summer law clerk, you will work with tasks such as registering and reviewing incoming cases and documents, conducting legal research, and other procedural actions. However, you must not have completed your law degree before the employment ends. You should have very good grades from completed parts of the law education. Advanced courses in civil, criminal, or procedural law are advantageous. You should be service-oriented and have a good ability to collaborate with others. To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you uphold democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of Swedish Courts. We require compliance with applicable laws. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. **Additional Information** Your application should include a cover letter, CV, transcripts from the law program, and any other certificates or grades referenced. Please specify in your application which period or periods you are applying for. To ensure an inclusive and fair recruitment process, the Swedish Courts apply competency-based recruitment. Our selection is based on candidates' competencies and merits. Prior to employment, the court may conduct a background check on applicants. We kindly but firmly request no direct contact from staffing and recruitment agencies or sellers of additional job advertisements.
