Do you want to help keep Karlstad clean, safe, and welcoming? We are looking for a new Street Technician!
In the Public Outdoor Environment department, we are responsible for the public and beautiful environment that you experience in Karlstad municipality.
Together, we work on streets, parks, and squares to create a safe, attractive, and sustainable environment where everyone thrives and has good conditions for a high quality of life. The position is placed in the Street-Park operation unit.
Being a Street Technician is about making a difference – every day. You and your colleagues ensure that Karlstad's streets and public areas are safe, pleasant, and functional for everyone who lives and spends time here.
Job Responsibilities
As a Street Technician, you will have a varied job where you move around the city. Your assignment is to ensure that our streets and roads are in good condition and that the urban environment is pleasant. This includes, among other things:
- Keeping the street areas clean and tidy.
- Taking care of trash bins, dog litter boxes, and street furniture.
- Managing weed control and contributing to making our environments safe and accessible.
- Driving light trucks and occasionally street sweepers.
Weekend work is included in the position, and on-call duty may also be required.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is curious, takes initiative, and wants to contribute to a sustainable urban environment. You enjoy practical work, have good physical fitness, and feel comfortable outdoors in all weather. You work well both independently and as part of a team, and you treat people with respect.
To succeed in this role, you need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A C driver's license.
- Basic computer skills as we work in digital systems.
It is an advantage if you have experience in similar work, familiarity with machinery, or training in Work Zone Safety/Hot Work.

About Karlstad Municipality
The Technical and Property Management department, with about 600 employees, is responsible for ensuring a safe and beautiful environment, the municipality's drinking water, streets, parks, playgrounds, forest areas, and internal services.
