The Mälardalen Probation area consists of probation offices in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, Västerås, and Uppsala, and we are now looking for probation inspectors to be based in Eskilstuna, where the probation office is centrally located, covering the municipalities of Eskilstuna and Strängnäs. JOB DESCRIPTION As a probation inspector, you will be responsible for clients on conditional release as well as clients sentenced to probation under supervision. The probation service also oversees intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as ankle bracelets, and community service. Your work will involve some investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing enforcement plans. As a probation inspector, you will actively participate in influence work aimed at clients, including structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting with release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. Your duties may also include conducting personal investigations, preparing statements for the court, and proposing appropriate sanctions. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a solid understanding of how people absorb knowledge and tailor your communication style to meet the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you exercise good judgment and integrity. As a probation inspector, you need to possess strong collaborative skills and communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that enables you to act physically if the situation requires it. To thrive and succeed in your role, it’s important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service’s fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for individuals, and the belief in the potential for personal development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to equal treatment of all individuals through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We seek candidates who have: • An academic degree (minimum bachelor’s level) preferably in social work, behavioral science, or social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. • Relevant, current experience in case management. • Strong ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish. • A valid driver's license (B category). It is advantageous if you have: • Recent and well-regarded work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work. • Current experience in social treatment work. • Experience in enforcement planning. • Current experience in working with CBT-based interventions. • Relevant language skills.
