We are seeking a leisure educator who wants to help further develop our activities at By School's after-school center. The after-school center is an important unit at our school where our students should encounter a meaningful and developmental environment both before and after school hours. Since the after-school center is also a learning environment, we place great emphasis on grounding our operations in the governing document Lgr22, particularly the fourth chapter of the curriculum that addresses after-school activities. Care, development, and learning are the guiding principles anchored in the curriculum that the after-school activities should be based on. Based on a systematic planning approach, and in close collaboration with educators in the preschool class and the school's lower and middle grades, you will provide students with the opportunity to interact in a safe and knowledge-enhancing environment.
As a leisure educator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the teaching and activities at the after-school center nurture students' curiosity and give them the chance to develop their interest and ability to communicate through various forms of expression. You will collaborate with the school’s activities during the school day, build and maintain good relationships with students and their guardians. Furthermore, in cooperation with the school's educators, you will ensure that the school’s breaks contribute to meaningful and safety-promoting activities for our students.
Our students should feel secure and have a conducive study environment in all of the school's activities. They should meet professional adults who provide them with fundamental security and stimulate and motivate them towards a meaningful and educational development. Moreover, students should be given the opportunity to develop their social skills and their ability to interact with other students in different contexts.
Therefore, we are looking for someone who has pedagogical insight and is confident and clear in their leadership. The role of a leisure educator involves close cooperation with the school staff and interaction with students, as well as collaboration with guardians. As a leisure educator, you should possess the ability to establish good relationships and build trust between yourself, the students, and their guardians. You are communicative and can take the initiative in everyday tasks and contribute ideas that are developmental for the operations. We are primarily looking for someone with relevant education and/or experience working in after-school centers, preschool classes, or elementary schools. Are you the one we are looking for?
