About this role
In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all stages of life. We make each other better.
Leisure
Within the Culture and Leisure Department, there are approximately 90 employees who work daily in the areas of libraries, leisure, and culture, striving to develop and contribute to making Gotland greater.
We work comprehensively to promote citizens' health and quality of life, to develop the community, and to deepen democracy by inspiring and enabling physical and sensory experiences, encouraging personal creativity, fostering interpersonal meetings, and creating a meaningful existence. This is for both those who have chosen to live here and those who visit the island. A strong cultural and leisure operation contributes to good quality of life and is important for the development of stimulating living environments. Thus, the department's activities form a vital foundation for a good society where people thrive both physically and mentally.
The Culture and Leisure Department is part of the regional executive administration, which also includes support and governance departments such as finance, HR, communication, IT/digitalization, among others, as well as the meals department.
Within the Leisure Unit, about 20 employees work with facility bookings, grant management, and the operation of our swimming pools, ice rinks, and facilities. The unit enables associations to conduct activities and provides support to them in various forms, working strategically to develop Gotland together with other partners, such as RF-Sisu Gotland.
Your Responsibilities
Build long-term sustainability, structure, and collaboration in one of Gotland's most important development areas.
In recent years, Gotland has made significant progress in developing hiking trails, outdoor areas, and collaboration between the region, associations, and other stakeholders. These projects have created both tangible infrastructure and strong partnerships – and now we face the next important step: to bring the work into a sustainable, long-term, and coordinated structure.
Region Gotland is therefore seeking an Outdoor Coordinator who wants to take responsibility for building on what has been created, maintaining cohesion in outdoor life issues internally, and continuing to be a reliable and responsive contact point for engaged stakeholders on the island.
As an Outdoor Coordinator, you will have an overarching and advisory responsibility to coordinate and develop Region Gotland's work with outdoor life. You will contribute to ensuring that the outdoor life perspective has a clear place in the regular organization, and you will create links between schools, planning, public health, tourism, parks/nature, regional development, and the local association life. Your assignment is based on national outdoor goals, RUS, implementation programs, regional tourism strategies, and upcoming outdoor plans as well as the regional cycling plan.
Who Are You?
You have education or experience in outdoor life, environmental science, community planning, tourism, public health, pedagogy, or another relevant field. A B driver's license is required.
You are confident in working advisory, coordinating, and relationship-building. We are looking for someone who can manage complex issues involving many stakeholders and who is communicative and responsive in meetings with both internal functions and voluntary organizations. You thrive in creating structure and sustainability after the project phase, are analytical, unpretentious, and collaborative. Additionally, you have a genuine interest in the significance of outdoor life for public health, learning, attractiveness, and sustainable development.
