About this role

The County Administrative Board's approximately 300 employees work as the government's representative at the regional level. Our mission is to develop the county and ensure that national political goals are realized locally. The Nature Conservation Unit is the largest of the County Administrative Board's seven units. Here, we work on preserving biodiversity, promoting outdoor life, establishing and managing nature reserves, maintaining our mountain trails, managing wildlife populations, addressing reindeer husbandry issues, as well as conducting supervision and issuing permits. Our team includes experts in these fields who are eager to share their knowledge. We work with respect, professionalism, and openness for the residents of the county – together for a sustainable future! **Description** We are looking for an engaged employee who wants to contribute to the development and enhancement of conditions for an active outdoor life in Jämtland County! The County Administrative Board has a broad mandate in nature conservation – from managing protected areas and safeguarding biodiversity to coordinating and driving state outdoor policy work at the regional level. To strengthen this work, we are now seeking a person for a combined position as Outdoor Life Coordinator and Nature Conservation Officer. The ideal candidate should enjoy working both operationally and strategically and wish to make a real difference. **Responsibilities** As the Outdoor Life Coordinator, you will be responsible for driving, supporting, and following up on the work related to the state outdoor life goals across all units of the authority. This role also involves leading both internal and external networks and handling consultations from an outdoor life perspective. In the role of manager of protected areas, you will work to create favorable conditions for more people to experience Jämtland's unique nature. Together with other managers, you will prioritize, plan, and implement measures, procure contractors, and follow up on results. The tasks may also include some field leadership. **Qualifications** We are looking for someone who has: - A relevant higher education degree in nature conservation, tourism, or another field deemed equivalent by the employer. - Good knowledge of the conditions for outdoor life and the importance of access to nature close to urban areas. - Experience in initiating, driving, and following up on development projects. - A solid understanding of the roles and responsibilities of various societal actors within outdoor life, nature tourism, and public health. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. As a person, you are proactive, structured, and have a knack for fostering good collaborations. You listen actively, communicate clearly, and handle disagreements constructively. You also have the ability to synthesize complex information, make trade-offs, and see the bigger picture in your assignments. Since travel is part of the job, a valid driver's license (Category B) is required. **Meritorious** - Experience in case management within a government agency - Experience in leading networks - Experience in procurement - Experience in field leadership, such as Bas-U or Bas-P **Conditions** For permanent employment, the County Administrative Board applies a 6-month probationary period.
