The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) is Seeking a Communications Officer Responsible for the Institute's Internal and External Websites and Social Media - With the Mission to Develop Storytelling Formats in Various Digital Environments Together with Others. About Us NAI is a Swedish Government Agency Under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Funded by the Governments of Finland, Iceland, and Sweden. The Institute's Mission is to Deepen Understanding of Contemporary African Perspectives Among Nordic Decision-Makers and Other Societal Actors. We Conduct Research and Collaborate with Partner Institutions in the Nordic Countries and Africa. The Institute Has Approximately 35 Employees from Nearly 20 Countries. The Communications Unit at NAI Produces Articles, Films, Podcasts, Infographics, Policy Notes, and Other Publications; Manages Websites and Social Media; Arranges Events and Policy Briefings; and Conducts Workshops on Research Communication. We Work Closely with Researchers in Shaping Our Research Communication. About the Position You Will Be Responsible for Ensuring That NAI's Digital Channels - Websites and Social Media - Are Accessible, Secure, and Effective Tools for Disseminating Research-Based Knowledge. You Will Develop Strategies for Web Content, Analysis, and User Experience, and Ensure That the Institute Complies with Applicable Regulations. A Crucial Part of the Role is to Follow Developments in AI and Digital Communication, and Drive the Development of How We Use Existing and New Tools Safely, Responsibly, and Creatively in Line with NAI's Mission. Experience in Research Communication or Translating Scientific Knowledge for Broader Audiences is Meritorious. Example Responsibilities • Responsible for Development and Management of NAI's Websites, Including Technical Function, Analysis, and Operation. • Drive and Develop NAI's Social Media Channels and Contribute to Cohesive Digital Communication. • Monitor Developments in AI and Digital Communication and Provide Advice on Safe, Ethical, and Effective Use of New Tools. • Ensure Web and Digital Communication Comply with Applicable Laws and Standards, Such as GDPR, DOS Act, and WCAG, as Well as Information Security Guidelines for the Public Sector. • Collaborate with Internal and External Parties, Such as Researchers, Web Developers, and Suppliers. • Participate in Strategic Communication Work Within the Unit. • Support Colleagues During Events and Special Communication Initiatives. Qualifications Requirements: • Academic Degree in Communications or Equivalent. • At Least Five Years of Documented Experience in Web Responsibility, Social Media, and Digital Communication Analysis. • Good Knowledge of Laws and Standards Related to Digital Communication, Such as GDPR, DOS Act, and Web Accessibility (WCAG). • Experience with Web Analysis, SEO, and UX Design. • Experience Analyzing and Evaluating Social Media Impact and Audience Engagement. • Understanding of AI Tools and Their Use in Communication, Focusing on Ethics, Safety, and Effectiveness. • Excellent Swedish and English Language Skills. • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities. • Ability and Interest in Collaborating in an International and Multicultural Work Environment.
