About the job
In your position, you will serve as a support function for researchers within the experimental activities at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN). The research conducted focuses on neurobiological mechanisms, underlying affective disorders, and addiction conditions.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Significant responsibility for animal handling and active work with animal models alongside researchers in the group
• Some administration related to laboratory activities
• Conducting molecular biology and biochemical analyses such as preparation of proteins and nucleic acids from human and rodent tissues, ELISA, Mesoscale, genotyping (various PCR methods), and cell culture
About you
We are looking for someone with a master’s degree in biomedicine/biology or equivalent. The applicant must have documented strong knowledge in neurobiology.
Completion of a course in laboratory animal science (LiU course code 8MEA05-Laboratory Animal Sciences, 7.5 ECTS or an equivalent course at another institution) is a requirement. The applicant should have experience working with rodent models for affective disorders/addiction conditions, particularly relevant experience with stress models and operant self-administration. Specific knowledge of behavioral analysis (using programs such as EthoVision) is required, as well as experience in tissue sampling and laboratory methods such as immunohistochemistry, genotyping, and ELISA.
Experience in intracranial surgery and studies of social behavior is an advantage.
You should possess a high degree of initiative and well-developed communication skills. As you will be in an international environment, very good proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Furthermore, you are responsible, engaged, and capable of working independently while also having good collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

You will work at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN) at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV), Faculty of Medicine.
About the employment
Temporary employment for 6 months, full-time.
Start date according to agreement.
