About this role
Would you like to contribute to top-quality medical research?
Karolinska Institute, Department of Oncology-Pathology, Eriksson Research Group
The project will be conducted at the Clinical and Translational Melanoma Research Group led by Hanna Eriksson at the Department of Oncology-Pathology. The development of immune-based treatments has improved survival in advanced melanoma in recent years, but there are still subgroups of patients who do not respond to available therapies. Our goal is to enhance personalized cancer treatment by increasing our understanding of melanoma biology and developing new therapeutic strategies.
Your Role
We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant with a strong interest in immuno-oncology to join our research group. The project specifically aims to improve immune-based treatments for melanoma by understanding differences in treatment responses at the molecular and cellular levels. The research assistant is expected to actively contribute to the experimental work, which includes techniques in cell and molecular biology, cell culture, as well as animal experiments and tissue processing being part of the experimental work.
Who Are You?
Requirements:
- Applications are welcome from students with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, or another relevant field within life sciences, with a strong interest in translational research as well as experience in experimental work and animal studies.
- The candidate should have excellent and documented laboratory skills, with experience in techniques such as western blot, qPCR, microscopy, FACS, and working with mammalian cells being particularly meritorious.
- We seek a highly motivated and creative individual with a genuine interest in research.
- The job requires a high level of precision, planning ability, and a structured approach to work.
- Since the applicant will work in a multidisciplinary environment, the ability to collaborate and strong communication skills are essential.
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, is necessary.
Merits:
- Documented experience in the field is advantageous but not a requirement.
- Knowledge in oncoimmunology and melanoma is highly desirable.
- Understanding of cancer biology and immune-based cancer treatments is an asset.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
