We are seeking a Research Assistant in Air Logistics.
About the Job
As a Research Assistant in Air Logistics, you will work closely with researchers and doctoral students within the department. The role involves participating in ongoing research projects focusing on modeling, simulation, and analysis of flight operations, particularly in areas related to fuel consumption and future urban air transport systems.
Work tasks include developing, adapting, and testing computational tools, including porting existing open models to the Android platform. You will also contribute to data collection, result processing, and creating visualizations and presentations of research findings.
The work takes place in an environment with several active collaboration partners in both industry and government, offering excellent opportunities for skills development and networking.
About You
We are seeking someone with a master's degree or in the final stages of an education in Media and Information Technology or a similar field. The position requires experience in adapting and porting open tools for calculating aircraft fuel consumption – such as OpenAP or similar – to the Android platform.
We prefer candidates with strong programming skills, especially with mobile development experience. An interest or knowledge of urban air mobility is also advantageous.
We want you to be independent in your approach and good at taking initiative. You should have a structured work method. To thrive in the role, we seek someone with strong analytical abilities who enjoys solving complex problems. The position involves close collaboration with colleagues and other actors, so good teamwork skills are essential.

Your Workplace
You will belong to the Department of Science and Technology (ITN), known for its work in logistics, visualization, and organic electronics. We combine academic excellence with fruitful collaboration with the surrounding society. The position is in the Communication and Transport Systems (KTS) division, one of the Nordic region's largest environments for research and education in transportation. Activities are conducted across units including Traffic Systems, Quantitative Logistics, Air Logistics, Railway and Public Transport, Mobile Telecommunications, Construction Logistics, and Construction Technology. This position will be within the Air Logistics unit. Research is primarily externally funded and conducted in close collaboration with industry, authorities, and society. We are responsible for six educational programs at the undergraduate level.
About the Position
Full-time employment, limited to 12 months.
Start date by agreement.
The position may be placed in a security class. If so, a security review with register check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
