Job Responsibilities In consultation with the project manager and using technical systems, the employee will read, process, and analyze 17th-century Cyrillic cursive text to instruct, train, and evaluate an AI model within the Transkribus system so that it can transcribe cursive text with a Character Error Rate under 10%. Qualifications To be considered for this position, the applicant must have previous experience in transliterating older Cyrillic text and working with Cyrillic script in the Transkribus system (training and evaluating AI models). Such experience may include completed education in Paleography and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Reading Historical Sources with New Technology (HI1766), or equivalent. In the selection process, the following areas will be primarily considered: • Slavic paleography; • Work with historical documents; education in Slavic medieval studies; • Good knowledge of Russian and Church Slavonic; • Previous practical and theoretical experience working with AI-supported transcription in the Transkribus system; • Ability to express oneself well verbally and in writing in Swedish and English; • Expert knowledge of the Office package. Previous experience working with documents in the Swedish National Archives is meritorious. The employer will primarily consider the candidate who, after a comprehensive assessment, can be deemed to have the best prerequisites to carry out and develop the specified work tasks. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. We are seeking someone who can work independently and follow experimental protocols while having good collaboration skills and enjoying teamwork. Accuracy and good documentation skills are also important characteristics for the role.
