Department of Applied Animal Science and Welfare About the Job We are now seeking a researcher in the field of reindeer husbandry. Responsibilities: • Seek research funding from relevant financiers. • Conduct research-based collaboration with researchers both within and outside SLU. • Plan and practically execute research in the subject of reindeer husbandry. • Communicate research results and contribute relevant knowledge to the surrounding community. • Publish obtained results in reputable scientific journals and trade publications. • Teach students in various educational programs and levels, as well as supervise BSc and MSc students. Your Background Applicants must hold a PhD in biology (reindeer husbandry) or a related discipline. Documented experience in research within the field of reindeer husbandry and analysis of animal movement data (GPS and accelerometer) is required, as well as experience in information gathering through interviews. The applicant should have previously applied for and obtained research funding. As a researcher, you should be able to work both independently and in a team, possess good communication skills in both Swedish and English (oral and written), as well as Finnish (oral). Experience in teaching and course leadership is advantageous. The ability to teach in Swedish is a requirement. A valid driver's license (Category B) is also required. We will consider the applicant's personal qualities and suitability, as well as previous experience in the subject area, alongside general subject knowledge. About Us The goal of our department is to promote good animal husbandry and animal welfare, as well as sustainable food production with high product quality through research and education about animals, focusing on feed and nutrition, care and environment, ethology and animal ethics, animal welfare, and animal protection.
