About this role

Department of Clinical Sciences We are seeking a dedicated and analytical researcher with a strong interest in global issues related to sustainable animal production, antibiotic use, and antimicrobial resistance. About the Job The research will focus on the interplay between animal health, production, and antibiotic use within the framework of the One Health perspective. The projects will involve quantitative and qualitative analyses of field data, survey studies, and microbiological testing aimed at identifying the drivers behind antibiotic use in animal husbandry, both in Sweden and internationally. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with national and international partners and will connect to ongoing research efforts concerning AMR and sustainable food production. You will contribute to both research and policy-related activities and participate in the development of courses and research communication in this field. Qualifications: The candidate must: • Hold a Swedish veterinary license • Have a B driver's license • Be able to express themselves fluently in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Assessment Criteria: In the assessment, the following will be considered: • Ability to collaborate and work both independently and in a team • Administrative skills • Experience with various laboratory methods for resistance determination The position will be offered to the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment, is deemed to have the best qualifications to carry out the tasks. Personal qualities will be given significant weight. Your Background We are looking for someone who has: • A PhD in veterinary medicine, animal science, or a related field, preferably with a focus on AMR, epidemiology, or One Health (defense expected by 2025). • Experience in survey methodology, statistical analysis (e.g., regression, ANOVA), and scientific publishing. • Documented experience in microbiological laboratory work and international research collaborations. • Strong communication skills and experience in presenting research to both academic and non-academic audiences. Desirable experience includes: • Collaboration with international organizations (e.g., FAO) and development projects. • Policy-oriented research or scientific support to decision-makers. About Us Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and postgraduate education in the fields of veterinary medicine, animal care, and animal science. The department's activities primarily concern our common Swedish domesticated animal species (pets) with a focus on anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal medicine, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and pet reproduction.
