About this role

The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among other areas, cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the core ideas of the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, as well as vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several program educations, independent courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is around 400, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are over 850 active members in the workforce. For more information about the department's activities, please visit: http://www.uu.se/medarbetare/institution/immunologi-genetik-och-patologi **Job Responsibilities** - Independently drive research related to CAR-T cell development and act as a supervisor for postdocs and doctoral students within this project - Supervision of doctoral students primarily involves co-supervision - Participate in teaching - Attend and present research results at group meetings **Qualifications** - PhD in molecular biology or a related field - Postdoctoral experience (preferably three years or longer) - Competitive CV - Solid experience in preclinical development of CAR-T cells and synthetic CAR molecules (this experience should be substantiated by scientific publications) - Extensive experience in molecular biology and synthetic biology with particular emphasis on cell membranes and their role in immunological synapses and trogocytosis (protein transfer) - Strong experience working with primary cell cultures including immune cells and endothelial cells from humans and mice - Significant experience in the production of viral vectors - Extensive experience in advanced flow cytometry (analysis and cell sorting) - Strong experience in advanced microscopy - Solid experience in in vivo work including FELASA certification **Desirable/Additional Qualifications** - Experience in bioinformatics - Experience with AlphaFold To apply, please attach your degree certificate, curriculum vitae, and any recommendation letters. **About the Employment** The position is permanent, with a probationary period applicable.
