About this role

About the Role

Every year, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) makes 21 million decisions that impact people's lives and the entire society. We disburse approximately 260 billion kronor annually. It is the taxpayers' money that we manage, and that is a significant responsibility. Therefore, we thoroughly engage with each case, adhere to laws and regulations, inform and guide, care and show consideration. This is a job for those who want to take responsibility. Welcome to Försäkringskassan.

In the housing allowance department, we are in an exciting development phase and therefore welcome you if you are confident in yourself and inspired by change. We are two closely-knit units that collaboratively, without pretensions, take joint responsibility for our mission. We take the time to support each other in our daily work and maintain a pleasant atmosphere in our activity-based office.

Responsibilities

As a claims handler, you have an important mission: to assist citizens so that the right person receives the right compensation at the right time. You provide individuals with the means to have an overview and feel secure in all their contacts with Försäkringskassan. Each individual has a unique situation that needs to be addressed according to their specific needs. Some discussions may be challenging. In this role, you are responsible for:

  • Investigating individuals' family and housing situations according to current regulations.
  • Making decisions about compensation.
  • Maintaining daily contact with applicants both in writing and via telephone.
  • Responding to inquiries regarding housing allowances.
  • Identifying needs and providing general and specific information.
  • Providing information and support in our self-service options.
  • Processing ongoing cases during the calls.

When working with housing allowances, you encounter individuals who require assistance with their housing costs. Housing allowances can be granted to families with children and individuals aged 18-29. The decisions you make are preliminary, which means they are verified afterward when the Tax Agency's decisions regarding final taxes are completed for the calendar year for which the individual received aid. Sometimes discussions are conducted with the assistance of a representative for the applicant. In your work, you also have contacts outside Försäkringskassan, such as with the Tax Agency, social authorities, the Swedish Migration Agency, and property companies.

Requirements

This is a job for you if you want to take responsibility. We are looking for you who:

  • have completed high school or have experiences and qualifications that can be deemed equivalent.
  • are service-oriented.
  • have a systematic and meticulous approach to work.
  • are stable and can maintain energy even in demanding situations.
  • collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • possess good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • are computer literate.

It is advantageous if you:

  • have worked with case handling where you have made decisions affecting individuals.
  • have experience with customer interactions in a fast-paced environment, preferably with administrative elements where the phone has been a critical tool.
  • are accustomed to working with administrative tasks according to guidelines or regulations.
  • are used to working in a high-paced environment and switching between tasks without losing efficiency or quality.
  • are comfortable taking calls in English.

We place great importance on your personal qualities.
