About the Workplace
Svea Court of Appeal is the country's largest court of appeal with approximately 450 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm.
The court's primary task is to review cases and matters appealed from the district courts within its jurisdiction. The court also reviews, as the sole and final instance, decisions from all of the country's rental tribunals. The court consists of nine judicial divisions, of which seven are general divisions handling criminal and civil cases, and two specialized divisions.
One of the specialized divisions is Division 2, where the Patent and Market Court of Appeal is established as a special court. In addition to the Patent and Market Court of Appeal's legal areas, Division 2 is particularly focused on tenancy law, arbitration law, and particularly extensive dispositive civil cases. The division also handles general dispositive civil cases and other miscellaneous cases.
Job Responsibilities
Svea Court of Appeal is seeking one or more lawyers to serve as rapporteurs in Division 2 and the Patent and Market Court of Appeal.
In the Patent and Market Court of Appeal, all cases appealed from the Patent and Market Court are handled. The Patent and Market Courts essentially handle all of the country's cases and matters within the legal areas of intellectual property rights, marketing law, and competition law.
The current position is focused on handling cases and matters for the Patent and Market Court of Appeal, but will also include handling other case types processed in Division 2 – particularly general dispositive civil cases and miscellaneous cases. Job duties include preparing cases, conducting legal investigations, presenting cases for decision, and drafting proposals for judgments or decisions. The role also involves acting as a clerk during hearings.
Qualification Requirements
You must have a law degree and be qualified as a law clerk (attach transcripts to your application). The position requires excellent legal knowledge, very strong analytical skills, and excellent judgment. Previous experience in patent and market court legal areas may be meritorious. You should be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both in writing and verbally. You should have a strong sense of responsibility, high engagement in your work, and the ability to work independently and carefully. It is an advantage if you are also development-oriented. The position requires good collaborative skills and the ability to interact with parties in a correct and pleasant manner.

In accordance with the court's employment procedures and suitability requirements, the court will conduct background checks before a potential employment.
