About this role
We are looking for an engaged family therapist with a focus on preventive work for a parental substitute position at the Preventive Unit.
Your Mission
The Preventive Unit in Söderhamn Municipality works to prevent social exclusion through outreach social work among children and young people aged 0-20 years. Part of the Preventive Unit's mission is also to promote collaboration within the municipality and with other authorities and key stakeholders to ensure that a preventive perspective is integrated into the municipality's operations. The Preventive Unit employs various methods for early interventions through group activities and individual support conversations for children, young people, and guardians, as well as outreach work such as fieldwork, collaboration with schools, and crime prevention initiatives.
As a family therapist at the Preventive Unit, it is important that you are outgoing and able to build relationships with children, young people, and guardians, as well as with other authorities, community organizations, and businesses. You need to possess personal maturity to professionally engage with individuals facing difficulties. We appreciate an interest and knowledge in preventive and promotional work, and it is also a significant advantage if you have intercultural understanding and competence.
As a person, you are secure, stable, and self-aware. You view relationships in their proper perspective and distinguish between the personal and the professional. You adapt your approach to suit the situation. When circumstances change, you easily adjust and see opportunities in change. You collaborate well with others and can relate to them in a responsive and flexible manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts—you create contacts and maintain relationships. You exercise judgment and make appropriate assessments and priorities, considering various factors in your statements, actions, and decisions. You see the bigger picture and take into account the broader perspective. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively, setting and adhering to deadlines.
The position is for one year with the possibility of extension.
Description of the Workplace
The Preventive Unit is a dynamic unit within an organization, which means that as a family therapist in the Preventive Unit, you need to be open and curious about finding new methods and structures in your work. You will be part of a team and work both in groups, individually, and network within the municipality. It is important that you, as a family therapist, can quickly familiarize yourself with the tasks, so we prefer candidates with relevant experience that can aid in your onboarding. The work is partially scheduled for evenings and weekends, so it is essential that you are available to work during inconvenient hours.
Your Qualifications
We prefer that you are an educated social worker, social pedagogue, treatment pedagogue, or have other relevant education and/or experience that the employer considers equivalent. We also want you to have experience in relationship-building work with children, young people, and families that will help you quickly adapt to the role.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience working with early coordinated interventions and collaboration, for example, SSPF.
- Experience in group activities.
