Borlänge Municipality is now seeking a strategic and committed Head of Education who wants to lead and develop our educational activities - from preschool to upper secondary school - in a municipality with high ambitions and strong community engagement. Job Description/Responsibilities As Head of Education, you have overall responsibility for the Education Administration. You will lead the work together with heads of upper secondary school, compulsory school, preschool, and staff, and translate the School Board and Upper Secondary School Board's goals and budget into reality. Your mission is to create the best possible conditions for learning and development - today and for the future. In this role, you will lead and develop the Education Administration with a focus on quality, equity, and results. As Head of Education, you will have a central role in the municipal management team and work towards Borlänge's overall development. You have management responsibility for school principals and other key personnel within the Education Administration. You will collaborate with politicians, prepare matters, and be a key person in the dialogue with the School Board and Upper Secondary School Board. You will create good relationships with employees, union representatives, students, guardians, and community stakeholders. You are responsible for the administration's economics, personnel, and work environment. As Head of Education, you will report to the Municipal Director and be part of the municipal management team. You have relevant academic education, such as in pedagogy, political science, or other social science orientation, and several years of experience as a senior manager in an organization. You have documented experience in strategic and operational leadership, deep understanding of politically governed organizations and the interaction between politics and administrative organizations. You have good insight into the Education Act and other relevant legislation, as well as extensive experience from the school world - preschool, compulsory school, upper secondary school, and/or adult education. You have the ability to see the big picture and contribute to municipal development, excellent communication skills in speech and writing in Swedish, and experience with economics, work environment, and quality work with good results. A B driver's license is required. It is meritorious if you have leadership experience from a larger municipality and experience with significant change and development work with documented results. As a person, you enjoy working in a dynamic and changing environment where you can quickly prioritize and plan based on current needs. You are confident in your leadership and easily collaborate both within and outside the organization. Your leadership is characterized by commitment, clarity, and a coaching approach that develops both people and operations. You are communicative, trustworthy, and have the ability to see the big picture, think strategically, and simultaneously understand the daily challenges in school operations. The position is classified in a security class, which means the position can be assumed subject to passing a security review. The security review includes register checks and potential security interviews in accordance with the Security Protection Act.
