Welcome to apply! JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As Head of Education, you have overall responsibility for the education administration. You will lead the work together with heads of high school, primary school, preschool, and staff, and translate the school board and gymnasium board's goals and budget into reality. Your mission is to create the best possible conditions for learning and development today and for the future. In this role, you will lead and develop the education administration with a focus on quality, equality, and results. As Head of Education, you have a central role in the municipal management team and work for Borlänge's overall development. You have management responsibility for school principals and other key personnel within the education administration. You will collaborate with politicians, prepare matters, and be a key person in the dialogue with the school board and gymnasium board. You will create good relationships with employees, union representatives, students, guardians, and community stakeholders. You are responsible for the administration's finances, personnel, and work environment. As Head of Education, you report to the Municipal Director and are part of the municipal management team. You have relevant academic education, such as in pedagogy, political science, or other social science orientation, and several years of experience as a senior manager in an organization. You have documented experience in strategic and operational leadership, deep understanding of politically governed organizations and the interplay between politics and administrative organization. You have good insight into the Education Act and other relevant legislation, as well as solid experience from the school world including preschool, primary school, high school, and/or adult education. You have the ability to see the big picture and contribute to municipal development, excellent communication skills in speech and writing in Swedish, and experience with economy, work environment, and quality work with good results. A driver's license (B-license) is required. It is meriting if you have leadership experience from a larger municipality and experience with significant change and development work with documented results. As a person, you enjoy working in a dynamic and changing environment where you can quickly prioritize and plan based on current needs. You are confident in your leadership and easily collaborate both within and outside the organization. Your leadership is characterized by engagement, clarity, and a coaching approach that develops both people and operations. You are communicative, trustworthy, and have the ability to see the big picture, think strategically, and simultaneously understand the daily challenges in school operations. The position is classified in a security class, which means the position can be assumed provided the security screening is approved. The security screening includes register check and potential security interview in accordance with regulations in the Security Protection Act.
